Your view on the fad dieting craze that rushes though Japan is extremely accurate. I didn’t know about the skin bleaching ingredients in so many products though. :O

There are a considerable percentage of those who do have eating disorders with in Japan. I have done plenty of research on this matter. The societal pressure to be thin is high in many countries and in Japan it can be immense.

DUDE yeah! like I dunno what I was watching I forgot but a commercial came on first and it was Japanese based as in Japenese and probably filmed there and it showed this skinny a as hell japanese chick sitting down at her kotasu and some arrow pointed at her LITTLE buldge coming out since she sat down and then some box I guess to get rid of all the extra fat or whatever was in there and thenit showed her the next morning all happy and crap now that she is ‘skinny again’ I was like :O

they*(asian friends to the american one, they were korean)

i think the weight issue is a problem in asia in general. i have seen magazines where a girl weighed like 45kg (which is what like 90-something pounds) and she was like IM FAT I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT (WTF?!) and dropped down to 39kg. one of my american friends was like yeah im 60-something kg (like 130lb?) and they were like OMG you need to diet, and she was pretty skinny enough she was like 5’8″. So I don’t think they have a concept of what a normal body size is supposed to be bcz of media.

animes are for entertainment, they rarely reflect real life in japan. cartoons are exaggerations just like anything else. Anime characters reflect the “exaggeration” of the female body. most japanese women do not even come close to the curve proportions in anime girls! Maybe anime characters reflect a fantasy by japanese men? not sure

thats not true the japanese do like big breast have you guys ever seen their animes those anime girls have huge boobs and curves!

to me i think its fine if girls are thick and tall because i am one girls shouldnt think there fat when their not its not healthy for the mind or body

so anyway. im just a little confused & got freaked out when i watched that part of the video.
so please reply if you can, & thanks. ^_^

so anyway.. like i said im not japanese. & i dont really even know that much about this skin bleaching thing.
but im pretty sure that whitening products are not it.
it is true that most east asian countries are really into pale, porcelain, bright skin. & think its beautiful. & thats why whitening products are so popular over there..
but this is seriously the first time i’ve heard that they are bad & contain bleaching ingrediants in them..

  22. By hyunid on Nov 7, 2009 | Reply

im a little confused? i am not japanese but i am korean, & our skincare is quite similar.
this is actually the first time i’ve heard of skin ‘bleaching’ products, but it sounds horrible. i use whitening products to help lighten & correct discoloration & scars.
& whitening products are not, by any means, bad for the skin. they just help to even & brighten skin tone & help lighten past damage.
in fact most of the best skincare brands in the world have separate lines for whitening/brightening

Who said prominate women invented Anorexia? What I said is”Anorexia here in the U.S. has crossed over from prominent(sp..corrected) middle class caucasian middle aged women to middle class youth” Women who stand out such as Models are considered “Prominent” Trained Ballerinas some are more “prominent” thank others have this disease! So what is your problem?
